Mayo Clinic Transform Symposium to stream live in Second Life again

03 Sep

The Transform Symposium from the Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation will be streamed live in Second Life on September 7, 8, and 9, at no charge to attendees.  I’ve gone to sessions in the past two years and I recommend it highly.

This isn’t a boring conference of doctors and administrators talking to themselves. It’s designers, programmers, social scientists, politicians, journalists, philosophers, farmers, bioethicists, economists, and of course people from within the medical professions, discussing creative ways to improve health and happiness. All of us have a stake in this, whether we are practitioners or consumers of health care.

The Mayo Clinic is in the US Central Time Zone, so that’s SLT +2.  The schedule items with listed speakers are generally the ones that will be streamed, and it will probably be possible to watch those presentations on the website if you aren’t a resident of Second Life (or it’s not convenient for you to attend there). The SLurl to transport directly to the Mayo Clinic area in Second Life is secondlife://Mayo%20Clinic/128/128/0.

I love that there’s something for everyone in this symposium, even the magician who will discuss performance theory and the cultural roots of astonishment. Interesting group of speakers.
